COMING SOON - New Online JP Exam & Study Guide

August 23, 2019, will be the last day applicants can take the Texas Medical Jurisprudence (JP) exam through our current vendor, PearsonVue.
Starting September 1, 2019, a new version of the JP exam will be available for applicants to take online through their My TMB account. Visit the new online JP Exam page for updates: http://www.tmb.state.tx.us/page/licensing-jp-exam


Scheduling

All applicants are required to pass the Texas Physician Assistant Jurisprudence Examination (JP) in three attempts with a score of 75 or better.  Applicants may schedule their exam after they have submitted their application for licensure, paid the appropriate fees, and have received a scheduling permit from the Board.


Study Materials

A study guide is provided at PA Jurisprudence Exam Study Guide to assist applicants in preparing for the exam.  Reviewing the Texas Physician Act contained in Chapter 204 of the Texas Occupations Code (found at Texas Occupations Code) and Texas Medical Board Rules related to Physician Assistants in Chapter 185 (found at Board Rules) may also be helpful to applicants preparing for the exam.


Exam Administration and Fee

The JP exam is administered by Pearson VUE at locations throughout the United States.  PearsonVUE may be contacted at http://www.pearsonvue.com/tx/medicalboard/ or at 888-300-6228. The examination fee is $61.00, payable directly to PearsonVUE.
